National Coaching Framework - UPDATE
Those present will recall that the presentation last Sept from Tony Ferguson was not felt to provide the nature, timetable and scope of our involvement for Essex to make a formal committment to work with Archery GB on development of the framework. However, it was clear that this was in our interests and we continued to work with Tony to obtain further clarification. T
he executive committees of both the ECAA and EGAC met with Tony again just before Christmas and while plans for grass roots involvement remain sketchy at this time, there is evidence that workshops are being scheduled in SCAS and Essex has, now, "signed-up" to participate in these and other workshops at various levels to help build the Framework.
Level 2 Coach Course  - Delayed start
We have continued to press Archery GB for latest details regarding the delayed availability of the Level 2 course content. Work just before Christmas suggested they remain on track to get an electronic version to us for the end of January with the printed materials by the end of February. On this basis we remain as confident as we can be that the course will commence on the revised date of 8th March. For further details please contact John Neal or Paul Whiteman.
Fancy a go at making your own longbow?
The Guild is hoping to schedule a two day course at Silver Arrow Archery in Bedfordshire. The course will be run exclusively for 6 - 12 Essex archers. You will be provided with all materials and tools and taught how to make a longbow which you keep. Cost is £295 and we are hoping to schedule it for March / April. If you are interested please drop a line to John Neal.
National Coaching Framework
A presentation on the UK National Coaching Framework was made to the Guild by Tony Ferguson (SCAS CCO Ed). He described GNAS plans to implement the National Coaching Framework which is being deployed by the national governing bodies of the majority of sports. GNAS is seeking "sign-up" by all Regions and Counties. The documents presented (and others) are available here.
